What You Can Check with Fabric Samples

Fabric samples let you review the details that matter before you move into color confirmation, quotation and bulk production. Compare handfeel, stretch, GSM, thickness, opacity and surface condition against your own garment application.

7-Day Lab Dip

  • 01

    Handfeel

Check whether the fabric feels soft, smooth, cool, compact, lightweight or supportive enough for the garment you have in mind.

  • 02

    Stretch & Recovery

Review the stretch direction, stretch strength and recovery after pulling, especially for close-fitting yoga wear, swimwear, underwear and activewear.

  • 03

    GSM & Thickness

Confirm whether the weight and thickness fit your product direction, from lightweight sun protection clothing to more supportive leggings or swimwear bases.

  • 04

    Opacity & Coverage

Check coverage under light and under stretch. This matters most for light colors, yoga leggings, swimwear and other fitted garments.

  • 05

    Surface Stability

Review the surface, smoothness and stability. For lightweight nylon spandex and sun protection fabrics, this helps you assess snagging risk and surface suitability.

  • 06

    Application Suitability

Compare the sample against your garment use, sewing method and performance needs to decide if it suits yoga wear, swimwear, underwear, sportswear, sun protection clothing or polo shirts.

Sample Types

Three Ways to Sample, Depending on What You Need

Whether you're still judging the fabric, narrowing down a shade, or locking an exact brand color, there's a sample for that stage. Most buyers start with swatches, then move to color cards and lab dips as the project firms up.

Fabric swatches for handfeel, stretch and fabric quality checking Step 01

Fabric Swatches

Start here. Swatches let you feel the fabric and judge stretch, recovery, GSM and opacity in your own hands, the fastest way to shortlist a base for yoga, swim, underwear, sportswear or sun protection before you talk price or color.

Color cards for early shade selection Step 02

Color Card Samples

Once the base feels right, color cards show you the shades we can run so you can narrow down a direction quickly, a useful step before committing to lab dips or a full custom match.

Lab dips for custom color confirmation Step 03

Lab Dips

When your fabric and target color are locked, lab dips confirm the exact shade before bulk dyeing, matched to your reference for brand colors, nudes, deep tones or seasonal palettes.

Not Sure Which Sample

Tell Leon What You're Making, He'll Tell You What to Sample

Not every project needs a lab dip, and not every swatch needs a color card. Share your application, target GSM, color direction and quantity, and Leon will point you to the right sample type so you're not paying for steps you don't need yet.

How It Works

How to Request Fabric Samples

Start with your garment application and rough fabric direction. If your full spec isn't ready yet, share what you do have and we'll help you narrow down the right sample options from there.

Fabric requirements being reviewed before arranging nylon spandex samples

From Application to Confirmed Sample

Four steps, no fixed spec required to begin

No need to wait for a finished tech pack. Your garment type, target feel, weight range and color direction are enough to get started.

Tell Us Your Garment Application

Let us know how the fabric will be used, yoga wear, swimwear, underwear, sportswear, sun protection clothing, polo shirts or any other knitted garment.

Two fabrics can share the same composition and GSM yet behave differently in handfeel, stretch, recovery, opacity and surface performance, so the end use shapes what we recommend.

Share Your Fabric Requirements

Send whatever you have, composition, target GSM, width, handfeel, stretch direction, color direction, opacity needs, testing requirements or estimated quantity per color.

If some of that isn't locked yet, just start with your garment type, the feel you're after, a preferred weight range and a color direction.

We Recommend Suitable Fabric Directions

From your application and requirements, we suggest nylon spandex or polyester spandex directions that fit, so you have a focused shortlist to review.

This trims the request before anything ships and keeps fabrics that don't match your intended use out of the box.

Samples Are Arranged for Confirmation

Depending on your project stage, we arrange the right mix of fabric swatches, color cards or lab dips for you to confirm.

From there you can check handfeel, stretch, recovery, GSM, thickness, opacity, surface condition and garment suitability before moving forward.

Not Sure Where to Start

Just Send What You Have, We'll Take It From There

Send your garment application, target GSM, color direction and rough quantity, and we'll suggest a sensible starting point for your sample selection. You don't need every detail nailed down to get moving.

Sample arrangement depends on fabric availability, sample type and shipping details.

After Confirmation

What Happens After Sample Confirmation

Once you're happy with the sample, the next steps lock in color, price, quantity and production details so nothing is left vague before bulk runs.

Nylon spandex fabric in bulk production after sample and color confirmation

From Approved Sample to Shipped Bulk

Five checkpoints that keep fabric, color and delivery aligned.

Fabric Quality Confirmed

With the fabric approved on handfeel, stretch, recovery, GSM, opacity and surface, you move on to color, quotation and order talk on a locked base.

Color Card or Lab Dip

Color cards help you shortlist a shade early; lab dips confirm custom colors before bulk dyeing, ideal for brand colors, nudes, darks and seasonal palettes.

Quotation on Confirmed Details

We quote on the confirmed quality, color, quantity per color, width, finishing, testing and packing. Custom dyeing runs at a standard MOQ of 300 KG per color.

Bulk Order Details Confirmed

Before production we lock specification, color, quantity, delivery schedule, testing, packing and shipping, so the plan is clear from the start.

Production & Inspection

Bulk is produced to the confirmed quality and color, and fabric inspection can be arranged before shipment to check production and packing condition.

Questions & Answers

Fabric Sample FAQ

Common questions on swatches, color cards, lab dips and what to share before you request samples. Don't see yours? Message Leon and you'll get an answer.

Do you provide fabric samples?

Yes. We arrange samples for nylon spandex and polyester spandex knitted fabric projects, subject to fabric availability, sample type and shipping details.

What can I check with fabric samples?

Use them to check handfeel, stretch, recovery, GSM, thickness, opacity, surface condition and garment suitability before you move into color confirmation or bulk production.

Are fabric samples the same as bulk fabric?

Samples are for reviewing fabric quality and picking a direction. Bulk follows the confirmed quality, approved color, order quantity and production details. Slight differences can occur between sample lots and bulk batches.

Can I request samples for a specific garment application?

Yes. Request by application, yoga wear, swimwear, underwear, sportswear, sun protection clothing, polo shirts or other knitted garments. Different uses can call for different stretch, recovery, opacity, thickness, handfeel and surface performance.

What information should I provide before requesting samples?

Share your garment application, fabric type, target GSM, width, handfeel preference, color direction, estimated quantity per color and any testing needs. If the full spec isn't ready, start with garment type, target feel, preferred weight range and color direction.

What's the difference between swatches, color cards and lab dips?

Swatches check fabric quality, handfeel, stretch, GSM, thickness, opacity and surface. Color cards are for early shade selection and reviewing available color direction. Lab dips confirm custom colors before bulk dyeing.

Do fabric samples show the final bulk color?

They can show color direction, but shouldn't always be treated as final bulk approval. For custom, brand, nude, dark or seasonal colors, we recommend confirming a lab dip before bulk dyeing.

Can color cards be sent together with fabric samples?

Yes. Color cards can go alongside fabric samples when you need early color selection. For final custom color confirmation, lab dips are usually more suitable than color cards.

Do you provide lab dips?

Yes. Lab dips can be arranged for custom color development once the fabric quality and color target are clear. They're commonly used for brand colors, seasonal colors, nude shades, dark colors and special matching needs.

What happens after sample confirmation?

Next steps can include color card review, lab dip confirmation, quotation, order detail confirmation and bulk arrangement. We quote on confirmed quality, color, quantity per color, width, finishing, testing and packing.

What is the MOQ for custom dyeing?

The standard custom dyeing MOQ is 300 KG per color. Actual arrangement may depend on fabric type, color requirement, finishing process and production schedule.

Can I request samples if I'm not sure which fabric suits?

Yes. Share your garment application, target GSM, handfeel preference, stretch requirement and color direction, and we'll recommend suitable nylon spandex or polyester spandex directions based on your intended use.
